IMPORTANT UPDATE

What can kill this new corona virus (SARS-CoV-2 ) ? [ https://www.sciencealert.com/here-s-the-expert-advice-on-which-cleaning-products-to-use-against-coronavirus ]

Seems one of the active ingredients (besides bleach=sodium hypochlorite) is alcohol ethanol. Searched all my cleaners like dishwashing and regular, found Comet (contains bleach), is harsh on surfaces. I always use for all items brought back from stores. More difficult: what to use for washing produce ?

Then found that none I had except WINDEX (for windows cleaning) which contains ethanol and may help.

[from the Web: WINDEX MULTI-SURFACE DISINFECTANT SANITIZER CLEANER will clean and shine surfaces without any dull residue. It KILLS 99.9% of GERMS, VIRUSES, and BACTERIA on hard, non-porous surfaces. This is the perfect product for cleaning bathrooms, kitchens, tiles, stainless steel, and so much more!Oct 7, 2019]. Which I will use.

Here Victoria, Vancouver Island. Always finding new ways on how to protect myself better from carrying a nasty virus home, after grocery shopping. Not only do I always wear gloves – easily washable ones when coming home – but all items, be they food items or packaged items no matter what package (plastic, aluminium, cardboard or other) will be washed using cleaner with bleach, or better, yet, now I started to remove food items out of those containers wearing protective plastic gloves, then again wash them and then place my groceries where necessary safely elsewhere loose (outside of packages), or else then in fridge. Except yogurt or similar, which is more difficult.

In our stores finally now signs KEEP YOUR DISTANCE, which most customer do nicely. In the street, I always go around others keeping more than 2m distance.

Checkout: card readers (some stores cover up with protective plastic, some not). As I always wear gloves I can use the little keys with gloves on (see above, I wash gloves at home). Computer keyboards ? what about those ? Wipe down as well.

COVID-19 another corona virus outbreak

A virus is a smart little entity and knows how to find hosts, multiply and make humans really sick.

Typically, going back in history, did not most of these virus epidemics or pandemics that caused upper respiratory disease start in large human populated areas ? [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Severe_acute_respiratory_syndrome ]

Of most types of (zoonotic) infections (animal to human) the swine flu outbreak has also been devastating. World wide.

As with most such viral outbreaks where animal virus can pass to humans, these significant zoonotic pathogens may also be a result of deliberate cross contamination of viral matter in laboratories. The next article is a wake-up call and reminding us how vulnerable we as humans are facing another pandemic:

How to survive ? Well humans are just another category of ‘social animals’, needing contact. Large cities are a breeding ground for human contact.

And any virus – new or old – is a happy pathogen causing deadly diseases often via bacterial infections. As said before, find the best way to fight stereotype herding behavior and maintain a healthy lifestyle. A few of us will survive, even older people, especially older people, but how to survive financial disaster afterwards, that is another story.

COVID-19 and related issues – continuation

Continuation of my previous blog (extra measures during these trying times – [ https://renataveritasopinion.com/2020/03/18/covid-19-viral-pandemic-extra-measures/ ) ]

Here Victoria, Vancouver Island. Most residents try to keep social distancing. I say most, or many, not all. What surprised me was that there are still people who do not take this seriously, including health care workers, who are sick, now at home. And tell you (on the phone, luckily) “I am OK, will come back to work in one week”.

NOT GOOD !!!

This virus is quite persistent, may be dormant after a bout of respiratory disease, but can still become life again and try finding a new host, to replicate. Personally, I definitely do not go to that clinic after a health care worker comes back to work after one week, even two weeks, even more.

What counts is, how well everyone’s immune system can cope.

COVID-19 viral pandemic – extra measures

Frankly at this point I am not so much concerned whether to survive this world wide pandemic, than how ever to recover from severe financial losses in my pension plan (that I need for living). As of latest count, five years of income are down the drain. In other words I have to worry more about killing myself before this money runs out, than possibly surviving this viral disease.

All the measures now prescribed by the health authorities I have practiced all my life. What I do in addition now:

Cleaning thoroughly all groceries before they enter my home. In front of my entrance door, get rubber gloves and wipe everything down, containers, packages. Door handle. Then wash my grocery bags and my gloves. I always wear gloves (even before this outbreak). Fresh produce (even though I peel all fruits) I dunk extra for a long while in a solution of white vinegar and water. WASH – WASH – WASH.

I still go for a walk – since everything now is closed here – streets eerily empty, and go through our large city Park. Keeping on roads and streets by myself.

Does that sound paranoid ? I do not think so. One needs to take this seriously.

CANADIAN citizenship – identity or convenience ?

Canada citizenship – acquired identity or only a convenience ?

More and more, Canadian citizenship is used (and abused) for purposes of forcing the Canadian Government to evacuate persons (who have most of the time dual citizenship – their birth and that of acquired Canadian) from countries and situations where they believe they are at risk. Be that war, or any medical epidemic from which to distance themselves, or temporary economic social reasons.

During the past several years there have been many instances all over the world testifying to this situation.

Using your Canadian citizenship when convenient.

This is wrong and unfair to all those Canadians who permanently reside here in Canada, work, pay their taxes and contribute to Canada’s economy.

Particular in my case this goes against all principles of fair play:

When I came to Canada (on an expired U.S. student visa), within a few days I managed to find myself a job. This Canadian government – nor my own (birth) government – never had to pay a cent for me and my little boy since I started working.

Despite the fact that when we arrived here from the United States in the 1970s we also had no home and had to sleep in my old car for a while.

The clincher is this: Four years after residing here as Landed Immigrants, we acquired the Canadian citizenship. Which in my case resulted in loosing my birth citizenship (worse – the EU citizenship, which came into effect after we received the Canadian.) My son kept his birth citizenship, as he was born in a different (EU) country.

It is clear that losing ones birth citizenship is always controlled by the birth country, not by Canada.

[NOTE from Internet: The German law on citizenship mandates that German citizens who voluntarily apply for and accept Canadian citizenship will automatically lose their German citizenship if they have not been granted a permission to retain the German citizenship prior to becoming Canadian.”]

Yet, the question here still is: If you move back to your own country, or reside in your own country, why do you need the Canadian citizenship ???

Convenience, or safety net ?

[NOTE from Internet: “It refers to people with multiple citizenship who immigrated to Canada, met the residency requirement to obtain citizenship, obtained Canadian citizenship, and moved back to their original home country while maintaining their Canadian citizenship, with those who support the term claiming they do so as a safety net.”]

{NOTE. End of story for now, as this saga goes on.}
